I'm feeling this cat Onra. Very old-school hip hop instrumental, not so much classic like Dilla or Madlib, but more experimental like Flying Lotus. Paris is producing the gems, USA better step it's game up!!

I got an idea!!

Let's gather up a bunch of money, write an impromptu script (that's a bit presumptious, but I already can't see it winning an Oscar for the screenplay), get every action movie icon over the past twenty years or so, crank up the special effects, boost the budget on guns, violence, and busty babes, and put them in a "summer blockbuster"...wait, someone did that already?!?

I always wondered where it came from...

Wikipedia said it was something with their aeronautics origins and a depiction of white propellers through a blue sky. A friend at work said it had something to do with the colors of the flag (or something like that). Here's the answer from the horse's mouth:

See that? That's the estimated (probably lower than the true numbers) amount of gallons of oil that's been dumped into the Gulf Coast so far. I've been waiting CNN like crazy lately, and this Gulf Coast oil spill is a bonafide disaster. Looks like they got robots trying to cap the leak this evening. Hopefully they chill with the tragic photos of oil-covered ducks and pelicans.

Hopefully BP doesn't find it necessary to drop another $50 million for a PR company to design a image-saving commercial starring their CEO who promises to "make things right". All while fisherman and farmers who rely on the natural bounty of the Gulf are struggling to maintain a living. That's the real tragedy.

I'd rock that...

But first I'd get rid of all that paisley/swirly/whatever-it-is design running along the top and the sides.

This sinkhole from Tropical Storm Agatha in Guatemala City looks like something that should be in the movie 2012, not a real-life catastrophe.



The sinkhole was said to have gobbled up a three-story building and a house, and is about the size of a large street intersection. Hundreds have lost their lives to this tragedy. Hopefully Guatemala can get back on its feet quickly after this one.

The video's a little racier than most, but the beat is undeniable.  Now I can stop bangin' "Over The Top" when I need a taste of Mr. Flash!!

Best Of 2009 Vol. 1

2009.  A good year all-around, whether you're talking about sports (depending on who your favorite team is), movies, and music.  Speaking of music, there's a couple tracks I want to highlight here in the *ahem* early part of the year.  Here's one of my favorites from last year.  Stop, look, and most importantly, listen!



To me, it's just one of those epic, set-openers that will just light up the floor and burn the walls down.  It's like a Guinness to me:  dark, but never too heavy, and always a precursor for a good night...ok, so comparing music to beers isn't my forte (probably couldn't ever be anyone's), but I'm just shooting from the hip here.  Also, the cover art on the EP is sick.  That's it for now, check back soon.

This will be the first post of 2010, and the first post in about 3 months or so.

Where have I been?  Well, my computer took a header and was out of commision for a bit, but luckily with the help of a good local compy shop (good looking out Kevin's Computer and Photo), I got my Windows 7 Ultimate swag back.
